Paddington Station scaffolding design

British Construction Industry (BCI) Award Winner 2015 ‘Temporary Works Award’ For Innovative Design by mitigating impact to operational railway. The requirement of the scaffold was for access to all the roof areas above the station concourse and platforms. The main objective was to have minimal disruption to the operation of one of London’s busiest train stations.
The concept was to suspend access scaffolding from the existing arch ribs with innovative central rolling section to access the existing roof for maintenance and replacement work. Preliminary designs and photorealistic renders were presented at tender stage of the scaffold concept, which contributed to the successful contract being awarded to Tone Scaffolding services.
Responsibilities included designated CRE, onsite survey of the existing structure along with client liaison and design development, and finally completion of the full design and calculation submission.
